Message from Pastor Josh Reese

"For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works,
which God prepared in advance for us to do." Ephesians

Andy Stanley said, "Honoring God involves discerning His picture or vision of what our lives could and should be. Glorifying God involves discovering what we could and should accomplish. We were created and re-created with His purposes in mind. And until we discover His purpose—and follow through—there will always be a hole in our soul."

You are a beautiful creation of the living God. He formed you in secret and shaped you with a vision. Through our own choices and sin nature we find ourselves disconnected from that grand vision of the Father. Yet, in Christ we can be restored and brought back to God and His best for our lives.

Believers then are not saved for nothing. It is important that we go before our Maker and ask Him for direction and guidance. Ask Him to plant within us His dreams and plans for our lives. Then work...work for Him, through Him and in Him.

As we continue our journey through The Story, my prayer for our congregation is that we are open to hear God's grand vision and supreme passion for us. Having heard His call, how then will we respond? May our hearts begin to grasp that as God's handiwork, we are empowered to do great things that bring Him glory.

Because He lives,
Pastor Josh

“Building a community that loves Christ, To reach a community for Christ.”

SPOTLIGHT ON MISSIONS

Mission Team Members

The Lord is blessing us by providing very good and talented people. If you are interested in joining the team, now is a good time to get involved as they are in the beginning stages of team formation and vision casting.

Our Missions Team is the communication connection and the lines of support between the congregation and the mission-aries. The team strives to find innovative ways to bring the missionaries prayer requests, reports of victories, struggles and trials before the congregation and consistently execute whatever plan is set forth. The purpose is that all are mutually encouraged.

Dave and Joyce Johnson visited our church and shared with the congregation some of their history, telling us their story, and engaging us with their sense of humor and obvious love for the Lord and for His people. Pastor Josh used their time with us by conducting an interview at each service, which you can hear on the church's website.

The couple also shared some short term mission opportunities for 2012.

If you have any questions or even a spark of interest call Ed Clay at 715-272-1950 or email eclay@frontiernet.net. Also contact Ed if you are interested in helping to send, pray for, or fund a potential missionary. The Missions Team will be discussing these opportunities and planning how to best make this available for the congregation to rally behind.

Youth News

Hello Ya'll,

This semester brings a new focus for the youth group. A focus that God has been stirring in my heart for students. So many people, not just youth, would say they know God, but fewer is the number of people that know God and truly LOVE Him. I do not see knowing God and loving God as an either or, it is a both and.

My desire for our students is that they would be a generation of students that would KNOW God and LOVE God! We are digging into what God has given us in His Word that guides us into a knowing and loving relationship with Him. Things like prayer, personal Bible study, fasting, worship, and serving. Please pray for our students this semester as we encounter what knowing and loving God is all about.

Grace and Peace to you all,
Pastor Dan, Associate Pastor

Service Opportunities

Joyce Blazer, who makes quilts to send with Boxes of Love, is in need of some supplies. She collects clean, used (stained and torn are fine), wool, cotton, and thermal blankets along with flannel sheets to use as bating between the new fab-ric coverings. If you could help Joyce with any of these supplies, they can be dropped off at church in a tub under the coat rack with my name (Nancy Robins) on it and I will deliver them to Joyce. — Thank you, Nancy.

Care Team

The Care Team uses the 'Circle' concept of leadership; a leader or leaders for each month of the year consists of members of the Care Team. Under the 'leader' is a list of people who have volunteered to support the Care Team during that month with whatever 'need' or 'event' arises. No month is ever the same.

We need to update this Circle list for 2012. If you served during 2011, stop by the Red Wall where you will find 2 lists. Please check the 2011 list and let us know if you are willing to be a volunteer for 2012. Please cross your name off the list if you cannot volunteer in 2012. The second list is for those who have not signed up but would like to get involved now.

For more information about volunteering on the Care Team, please contact one of the Team volunteers listed below. You will find this a wonderful way to get involved and serve fellow members in the process. We care about our church family and are com-mitted to taking care of them physically and spiritually to the best of our ability.

Thank you for considering becoming a volunteer. And thank you to all the people who have supported the work of the Care Team in the past.

Milestone Senior Living Bible Study

Our ministry at Milestone Senior Living in Eagle River is growing and we need a pianist, organist or other mu-sical accompaniment for the 4-6 preselected hymns we sing weekly. The residents really love singing the hymns. We meet at 1:30 on Tues-days in the great room for about 45 minutes where there is a keyboard available to us. Our song book is the red hymnal obtainable at church.

Ideally we will have one musician along with a few singers each week on a monthly rotation. Following the singing of hymns we share a brief devotional time and end with a discussion on a Psalm. Milestone is in the for-mer Settle Inn building on Highway 45 north of the high school. Please call Judy Kuiper at 715-479-7727 if you can help.

"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." (James 1:27)
